To help keep every dog safe, we follow a simple guideline known as the 150 Rule. It helps us determine when conditions are suitable for walks and when we need to adapt our plans.

📏 What Is the 150 Rule?

The 150 Rule is simple: we add the temperature in °F to the humidity percentage.

For example: 64°F + 95% humidity = 159

🟢 Under 150 — Regular Walks

Conditions are suitable for regular walks and outdoor playtime.

🟡 150–170 — Short Outdoor Breaks Only

Long walks are paused. Dogs will enjoy brief, shaded outdoor breaks before returning indoors to cool down.

🔴 Over 170 — No Walks

Conditions are too hot for outdoor walks. To prevent overheating, all outings are cancelled.

🏠 We understand that many dogs will not fully settle or toilet on pavements alone, and that some homes do not have private garden space. Our shaded woodland sites remain much cooler than hard surfaces, providing comfortable, natural ground even in warmer weather—where dogs often feel most at ease. This works perfectly alongside our 150 Rule while supporting dogs without access to a garden.
