At David & Michele Dog Walkers, your dog’s wellbeing always comes first — especially in warmer weather. We follow a strict, transparent safety system called the 150 Rule to decide when it is safe to walk, and when we need to adjust our plans.

 

📏 How the 150 Rule Works

 

We add together the temperature (°F) and the humidity (%):

 

- Example: 64°F + 95% humidity = 159

 

🟢 Under 150 — Full woodland walks available

 

Conditions are safe for normal exercise and exploration.

 

🟡 150 – 170 — Short shaded potty breaks only

 

No strenuous woodland walking. Dogs are taken out briefly in shade, then returned to cool rest.

 

🔴 Over 170 — No walks

 

Heat risk is too high. Walks are cancelled to keep dogs safe from overheating.

 

Quick conversion: °C × 1.8 + 32 = °F

•  🌀 Electric cooling fans fitted inside the car

 

• 🧊 Cooling mats for every dog

 

•  🪟 Window sun shades to block direct heat

 

•  💧 Fresh, cool water offered before, during and after every walk

 

•  🌲 We also check woodland shade levels, plus each dog’s breed, age and fitness

 

•  📊 Dual temperature monitoring in both Celsius and Fahrenheit

 

• 🕗 We run two morning walk slots all year round: 8:00am and 10:15am

The 150 Rule is just one part of our risk assessment. Every walk is judged individually — we never put a dog’s health at risk. If conditions are too warm, we will always choose safety over a walk.
